My first and very uncertain forays into the world of writing began with this novel back in late November of '99. Spawned in the aftermath of a fishing trip into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in west central Alberta, Canada, and spurred on by many late nights reading anthro fiction on the internet, this story began it's long and tangled path to the present with a few pages of hastily typed out text that bear only a fleeting resemblance to what the current story holds.

Inexplicably yanked out of place and time and dropped into the far distant future, a single human male must find a way to survive in a world that has returned to the iron age. The Earth has recovered from the damage done by the long extinct human race and a new culture has gained a foothold but they are far from human. Rescued and befriended by one of the locals, the lone human struggles to adapt to a primitive life and find the reasons why he has been brought to this place and this time. The answers will surely surprise him...

For the truly obsessed, below lies the story that started it all. Wild Rose Country version 1.0. This was my first attempt at writing anything since my high school days. It is a little rough, as can be expected. I managed to write five or so chapters before I got frustrated and shelved it. Even so, I don't think that it's all that bad. The general storyline is there and the later versions borrow some of the same events. For those that are interested, WRC ver 1.0 can be found at the link below, in zipped .txt format.
